About the Book

For five generations, our family has shared a special Thanksgiving and Christmas tradition that brings us excitement, love and joy. A true story unfolds here as the family works its way through adopting one of Santa’s Christmas Elves, who helps establish a proper structure for raising a family filled with goodness, joy, harmony and love. Our story was first made public in a 1956 article in The Skokie Review, a local newspaper in Skokie Illinois. Since that story ran, it has touched millions and continues to grow. We are so grateful for the opportunity that it provided us ever since our family matriarch, Dolores Baldwin Van Kampen, brought it from Holland to the states.
