About the Book

Simon, later named Peter, is a common fisherman in Galilee. A carefree braggart, Simon is devastated when his wife dies in childbirth. His call to follow Jesus changes his life. The Eye of God: A Fisherman’s Tale takes place during forty years of Roman rule by four successive Emperors. Simon Peter, now a “fisher of men,” is determined to save Jesus from a Roman crucifixion; but when he fails, he spends the rest of his days preaching Jesus’s startling new belief system. What did it take to draw followers to the dawning of a better world? The Eye of God: A Fisherman’s Tale seeks to answer that question.

About the Author

Marilyn Huntman Giese, born in Washington D.C., has lived in small towns, lakeside cottages, and Chicago, Illinois where she married Dr. Stanley Giese and bore the first of five children. Daughter of a Protestant father and Roman Catholic mother made religion a lively topic at home. Her search for the roots of Christianity began as a young adult. She meditated on the Bible chapter by chapter and with the blessings of a patient husband, climbed mountains in Turkey and gentle hills in Israel, saw ruined temples in Greece and Rome and studied histories of the First Christian Century. She published a photo-journal of the life of Jesus with photos taken on her travels. A poet by nature, golf, bridge and family gatherings are favorite pastimes
