El Nino – another christmas carol – A Novella This is a story of a lost soul coming home after years of searching for a place in the sun and failing; only to find it where he left it, home, waiting, unsoiled by the sins of the road taken. Is it Christmas Eve in southern California. A middle-age man drives his beat-up old car toward the ocean. It is only when he stands in the surf facing the dominating presence of the sea can he feel a force greater than the one keeping him imprisoned within himself. He has been here many times before. Each time, hoping he will be released from the fears that persecute him, and each time, the hope becomes dimmer as the door closes on the grace of the sea. But this is a night when hope reawakens the sleeping beauty of the heart-light endowed in human nature, and the tormented man is about to be swept up in its path of unifying force. There is an episode within the story that takes a fantastic leap, but it works, giving the tale a believable connection to the outcome of the man’s journey. I am an unpublished author.
