About the Book
This collection of poems and photographs was started in February 2009. I found writing poetry very helpful in working through my grief and loss after the death of our son, Paul. Many thanks go out to Fran Clarke, the developer and facilitator of The Heroine’s Journey, a psycho spiritual model for growth and authenticity, without which I would never have attempted this work. Thanks also to the late Sandford Lyne, poet and teacher of poem sketching using word groups. During the summer of 2009 I attended workshops facilitated by Lee Ann Broussard in the style of Sandford Lyne. Her approach brought Sandy’s character to life and as a result of Lee Ann’s warm, loving, non-judgmental attitude, I found my own beauty and truth in poetry. Much love and affection go to my Heroine’s Journey “sisters” who give me much affirmation and support, along with two close friends, Debbie and Therese, who loved me until I could love myself. A special thanks to my husband, “Frenchie”, who listens any time I need, and to my daughters, Bess and Hannah, who encourage me to expand my horizons. Above all, I thank Paul. I am who I am today because of all the lessons he taught me about life and living. I am truly blessed!!!!
