About the Author
I began writing at an early age, sometimes it was just a few lines, but I would make sure they rhyme if nothing else. Later at the age of 11 years old as a school assignment, I was asked to write a poem of emotion about a loved one. I remembered hearing about my cousin "Marcus Yates" that was killed in crossfire in July of 1988. The story and the love remained close to my heart so I decided to write a poem in his memory. After writing it and receiving an "A" of course, I entered a poetry contest of which I won. That poem was later published in an edition of "The Anthology of Poetry by Young Americans". By the age of 13 I had my second poem entitled "Thank You" published in a book called "The Ebbing Tide". I was also inducted into the "International Society of Poets", received other awards and honorable mentions. After a few years of hesitation and a lot of prayers, I finally decided to step out on faith and share my gift with the world. I pray that my words will touch someone and possibly bring out those unshared testimonies.
