About the Book

This is a story of living, loving, and thriving in a microcosmic silent world of deafness, swimming you might say in the deep, difficult-to-penetrate waters of a vast and overwhelming hearing world. Our world is a linguistic community. We communicate primarily through sign language. However small and isolated, the signing world deaf community knows no geography, extending as it does to every corner of the globe. Compared to some of the magnificent beach homes in Delaware, ours may be relatively small, but our windows look out at a very large world.
