About the Author

Christine Laker was born on April 17, 1979 in Oak Park, IL, a suburb of Chicago. She later moved to a suburb outside of St. Louis, where she currently resides. She is a single mother of two young children. She previously studied Social Work at Quincy University, where she graduated in 2002. She later went on to work with persons with Autism and Autism spectrum disorders. She currently works in the field of mental health, providing symptom management skills, psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery tools for adults afflicted with chronic and severe mental illness, many of whom were previously plagued by alcohol and drug addiction. She strives to instill hope in individuals who at one point had no hope. She teaches others to seek knowledge from a once destructive and broken past, in the hopes that emotional healing is possible. It is her future plan to pursue Psychology and Criminal Justice. Christine began writing at a very young age and someday aspires to publish children’s books. She is a supporter and advocate for women’s rights, disability awareness, racial and cultural equality and ending the stigma surrounding mental illness. She is a promoter of peace and an anti-war advocate. She also strives to promote social awareness and self-esteem in young girls and women.
