About the Author
Kameelah Smith was born on June 5 in Chicago, Illinois, at University of Illinois Medical Center. Known to them as the “miracle baby” at 9 pounds 10.2 oz, she was born to mother Debbie Dampier and father Eddie Smith. As a child, Kameelah loved to play but always took control; she was a leader. At the tender age of four, Kameelah wrote her first poem “I’m Not Mad, but I Am.” At the age of six, Kameelah began school at LaSalle Language Academy then on to Lane Tech. Kameelah started writing short stories while attending LaSalle Language Academy as a young author. During eighth grade, she started writing her first autobiography.
