About the Book
This is a non-fiction story about a Red-winged Blackbird. The Traditional teachings of the Ojibway (Canadian Indigenous people) are closely linked to the natural world. It is often referred to as Mother Earth and to others, the Supernatural or Spirit world. It is the result of ten years of recording events that the author feels contributed to a quest for answers to walk the path of a spiritual way of life. It was a perfect reassurance that the community of Red-winged Blackbirds were guides and protectors to find solace and many moments of peace and contentment. Four events mark the significance of the experiences. First, riding on a bike trail in Ottawa, Ontario; then, seeing a scary sight while riding on another bike trail in Toronto (along the Don Valley Parkway), Ontario; thirdly, a train ride from Winnipeg, Manitoba to Fort Frances, Ontario and last but not least, a drive from Toronto to our Dorion School reunion meeting with family members. An Elder was asked if indeed this could be published and his response was to take it to family first. It was a magical coincidence (perhaps) that a niece Jackie and her husband Percy played a significant role in the process. They provided a month trip to visit family for Christmas and all members graciously edited or read the transcript several years ago. It is only now that images were provided by a nephew, Greg Perry and it is ready for the public. Self- publishing with Xlibris is currently now a reality!
