About the Book

A Boy and A Horse is a fictional portrayal of the sojourn of a horse from being a colt until he became a young horse. He was a favorite of the farm owner because of his hard work and loyalty. The elation and happiness of the young horse was heightened with the birth of a boy in the farm as he was presented as a birthday gift when the boy turned eleven. They had such a grand time together until a twist in the story changed everything.

This is the first published book for the author. The element of surprise, the precise depiction of the changing moods captured by the illustration, and the catchy, clear to understand text gives an honest understanding of the moral of the story, that of preserving and enriching relationships.

About the Author

Mike Lara is a technical person with a degree in Aviation Electronics. He worked as an Avionics Mechanic in PAL for four years and spent eleven years with IBM Philippines as a General Systems Customer Service Engineer. In 1990 he co-founded and led two software application service companies. He put up LARAMI Enterprises doing office furniture manufacturing as well as canine and exotic birds breeding. He eventually closed shop due to a major bypass surgery in 1998. He is at present working part-time at Macy’s Los Cerritos and resides in Buena Park, California near Knott’s Berry farm. Mike first discovered his creative and journalistic ability when invited to write a column for his high school newspaper in the middle of his junior year. In his senior year, he became the Associate Editor of the school paper. He won numerous citywide and national writing contests particularly in sports and features writing.
