Sixteen year old Jackson Miller’s life took a turn for the worse the day his mother passed when he was barely six years old. Now living in a rundown trailer park with an abusive alcoholic for a father, the only sanctuary he finds is with his childhood friends, Twins Demarcus and Serenity Taylor, in an Upper class African American society. Though both identical, they both could not be any more different in personalities. Loud, brash and cocky Junior Varsity Basketball player Demarcus calls the shots while his sister, soft spoken but popular Cheerleader Serenity tags along behind. The trio remains close until a devastating tragedy ends it all together. It is then deep feelings are finally surfaced between both Jackson and Serenity, while obstacles in their past lives continue to test their limits within one another. Since Way Back When is a story of teen interracial love, heartache, and finding faith in one’s self through the bleak and the weary.

Victoria Adaobi Ezeoke (Vicky. Vikki. Vickie.) is a Nigerian American author. She has been creating short stories and poetry since she was eleven years of age at Tom .W. Field Elementary School. She now attends Texas Woman's University in Denton Tx, pursuing her Bachelors Degree with a Major in English and Minor in History. She resides in Lewisville Texas with her family, and pet dog Hachiko.
