About the Author
This book was inspired by my children’s passion for reading and Rhyming, and the story line influenced by their love for animals and nature. This book attempts to combine these elements into a light-hearted, feel-good story of friendship, helping hands, and the importance of cooperation and working together to reach a desired goal. My eldest, Magdalena, started reading passionately at the age of 2.5. At 4 years of age, Magdalena was reading at 2nd grade level and offered to review this manuscript by identifying the parts that she liked and the parts she did not. For her review, she chose to use yellow highlights for the parts she liked and red underlines for the parts she did not. I couldn’t have asked for a better representation of her view. These highlights and underlines provided invaluable insight into the perception of the written words by the mind of a 4-year old. I am grateful to Magdalena for meticulously carrying on her task and for taking the time afterwards to explain why she liked or did not like certain passages. This book is dedicated to my wife, Alex, whose tremendous devotion to our children and her endless reservoir of care and nourishment is reflected in our children’s passion for books, music and the arts, and in their love and appreciation for animals, nature, and world culture. She will always be the musk deer to my red panda heart.
