About the Author
Kenneth Nagler is a retired meteorologist, better known for his hobby of working with dogs and their owners. Born in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1920, he graduated from the University of Massachusetts and joined the Navy in 1942, starting meteorology training in a navy-sponsored course at the University of Chicago. In 1946 he left the navy and went back to the University of Chicago, where he got a wife and a masters degree in 1947. He then joined the National Weather Service, where he worked on a variety of weather-related programs. These included fallout prediction at nuclear tests in Nevada, Eniwetok and Bikini and heading the weather support to NASA's manned spacefight and other space and missile-range programs. For more than 50 years he has been active in training and showing dogs. He heads a large hobby dog training organization and has been an obedience judge since 1971. His wife and he have done a lot of traveling. On these trips he often gets ideas for the fiction and verse that he writes. At 91 he is still active with the dog-related hobbies, gardening and, sometimes, writing.
