My Beautiful Feathers

About the Book

Beautiful Feathers is a children’s book about a bird who is questioning her identity and sense of belonging. Her attempt to deal with her feelings and not fitting in seems to have only made her situation worse. Eventually, with the help of a new-found friend, she learns that the world is different than she once thought. Through this discovery, she starts to accept herself and begins to heal.

About the Author

Here’s a picture of Lucy and Mikey. Lucy was the inspiration for writing this book. She is a seven year old Lutino Cockatiel and lives with us in Northeastern Illinois. In the book, as in real life, she has recently started to grow back her beautiful tail feathers.
