Loren is in his early-30s, living a successful and beautiful life. The death of his lover Steve from AIDS hits like a storm. This is the story of two entwined chapters of Loren’s life: the last 10 days of Steve’s existence, and Loren’s year-long quest to find closure while traveling around the world with nothing but a backpack. Country by country, discovery by discovery, Loren makes the journey from what was once familiar and comfortable to face his fears, let go of the past, forgive and heal. By the time he returns home from his pilgrimage, Loren has gone through a tremendous life-altering transformation. Now filled with peace, empathy, and empowerment, he moves beyond the constraints he had once set for himself. What started as a tragic event leads Loren to a voyage of discovery that will result in the wisdom and trust to embrace every moment of life in its simplicity and greatness.

About the Author

Upon returning from his year-long travel around the world, Loren Brown changed his career to focus on supporting the under-served in local communities. He is currently the Vice President of a charitable foundation for a major corporation in the San Francisco bay area. The adventure of intrepid travel still runs through his veins, as he continues his globe-trotting around the world enjoying time with old and new friends.
