About the Book

My childhood was like every child’s dream. The innocence of the joy filled with nothing by love.
Today, I realize the importance of purity of simple life.
In my early teen days, when most of my friends were the popular in the school, I was a shy, quiet girl, spending ever bit of the time daydreaming of a becoming someone known one day.
Since I remember, my poems and paintings were a big part of expressing myself.
I would turn every ordinary moment into something to write about and to give special memory and meaning, even thought I haven’t understood yet.
I fall in love, very deeply, in young age, and have been married ever since.
The big tragedy has shattered mine, and many others, world, by the war in my homeland of ex Yugoslavia.
My life has changed dramatically when my loving husband and I separated during that time, but, the faith has brought us back together after 14 months of fear and not knowing.
We lived in Germany for six years, and there I found the greatest happiness of all. I become a mother!
We moved overseas in USA in 1998 after long deciding period.
The challenges of learning and hard work in entirely different world, for me, changed my life once again.
With the time, in the process of adjusting, I become a mother to two beautiful girls, which brought me an enormous fulfillment and inspiration.
In this book I have included the poems that I dedicated to my kids, my husband, my sister, my parents and dear friends, as well as to different emotional state of mine that has been driving me through the years. The people in my life are my biggest support and I know that I am fortunate enough to have them believing in me and my dreams. I hope that people all over the globe, will find a part of their own feelings, by reading my book.
My life, itself, has brought some challenges that in the end, has relieved me. In a sense of looking forward smiling and being happy, I truly believe in power of love.
I have learned the importance of making choices, of forgiving and being forgiven, of regrets and moving on, and the beauty of everything good in human being. Today, I enjoy my life fully.

About the Author

Biljana Zovkic was born on July 18th 1971 in Ljubuski (ex Yugoslavia).

She is mother of three and a wife of 22 years. During her life, caused by different circumstances, she lived in different places, but was always surrounded by love.

After a long journey, she has published her first book “The world of my voice”, which inspired her to passionately continue search for long ago written notes, as well as the very recent poems.

This book “AWAKENING” is emotional portrait of words and illustrations. It’s filled with imaginary, yet real mind speaking, inspired by love, surviving, motherhood, friendships, betrayal, and especially by finding her true purpose in life.

She currently lives in Woodstock, Illinois .
