About the Author

My name is Marianne Taylor Castillo. I was born in Ashland, Kentucky and am a graduate of Paul G. Blazer High School in Ashland Kentucky (1969) and Morehead State University in Morehead Kentucky (1973).

I moved to Brownsville, Texas after I graduated from college and was a basketball coach and physical education teacher at St. Joseph Academy. I was also the restaurant and bar manager at the Brownsville International Airport, along with my mother, Georgana Drake. In 1976 the company transfered us to Corpus Christi where we managed the Corpus Christi International Airport Restaurant and Bar. I got married and had two sons, Oscar Henry in 1977 and George Jay in 1980. Th e company lost the contract in 1985 and I worked many diff erent jobs until 2001 when I got hired at the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station from October 2001 until September 2010 when the company contract ended. I now work at the La Palmera Mall.

I joined Sts Cyril & Methodius Church in 1997 after attending since 1975. I was a Baptist before I joined and was searching for a church to call home. I attended many other churches, but was always drawn back to Sts Cyril & Methodius. I am currently a Eucharistic Minister and am blessed to be a part of this wonderful parish. I started writing poetry on a regular basis in 2004 while attending Adoration hour after I got off work from the base. I never thought it would to lead a wonderful experience such as this. I hope one day to start writing again share more words of inspiration to others.
