About the Book

The Wilkie Reader may be the funnest way ever to learn the alphabet. The book’s rhyming and clever letter descriptions are a joy to children but are also perfect tools for any adults who wish to learn English. Each letter “lesson” can be enhanced by asking the students to use the letter or letters in random items around the room. “How many d’s do you see?” “Door, dog, dime, donut, and den” would be good answers. As the students advance we could ask for items with the letter sound somewhere else in the word. “Where else is the d?” “Body, food, red” would be good examples. The Wilkie Reader opens the door for learning and the teacher can be as creative as he or she wishes with the alphabet road map provided.

About the Author

Jim Wilkerson has been writing and broadcasting all his adult life after majoring in broadcast journalism at USC which he attended on a football scholarship. His first radio job was in the U.S. Army at the American Forces Korea Network. Since then he’s been a DJ, a sports columnist, a sports radio and TV reporter, a play by play announcer, a news anchor including helping to start CNN, and a freelance columnist for newspapers and magazines nationwide. Jim is now retired from broadcasting but not writing. The Wilkie Reader is a cute and clever alphabet rhyming tutorial. “Lessons” are fun to read and easier to remember.
