Where Were You?

About the Book

If you have ever had a loved-one who is in any way affiliated with the United States military, then you will understand and appreciate the messages within this book. "Where Were You?" represents a child's thoughts and feelings regarding the many milestones and meaningful events in his or her life that a loved-one was not able to share. "A Parent's Lament" is the parent or guardian's heartfelt reasoning and justification for the inability to be present to witness those milestones. The intention of this book is to bring to light the inner most thoughts and feelings of a child and a military family member who are separated from each other for any length of time. It summarizes both points of view.

About the Author

I am a retired U.S. Navy veteran, single mother of four wonderful children and proud grandmother of one. Throughout my naval service, of which most of the time was spent onboard ships, I always felt guilty about leaving my children for any period of time - even though I knew they would be well taken care of and provided for in my absence. As a proud and dedicated sailor, I made many sacrifices. However, because of my choice to serve our country, my children were forced to make sacrifices as well. It is because of the strength and inspiration of Jessica, Jamie, Jimmy, and Vernon that I wrote this book.
