About the Book

This is a  collection of essays and articles published over the years by the Chicago critic and writer, Gloria Klein. In this collection there are essays on poetry, criticism, and social and political concerns.  Ranging from a criticism of performance poetry, through a discussion of contemporary poetics, to the influence of Affirmative Action on the arts, readers will find Gloria to be provocative, stimulating and controversial. Many of these essays first appeared in the Chicago newspapers Letter eX and Windy City Times.

About the Author

Gloria Klein’s virtual life began in Berlin, where she was born after the Second World War. Her mother was English and her father German. She went to school in England, where she met and married a lieutenant in the Royal Air Force. Unfortunately, he was killed in a training accident two years after their marriage. Since then, she has spent her time writing and traveling between Berlin and Chicago, with occasional trips to New Orleans and living in the pages of a novella. She serves as a part-time editor for Alphabeta Press.
