About the Book
Psychologist turned horse trainer Charlie Bloom decides to help
his police detective friend Tony Ryan solve the murder of Howard
Brinkli, a VP at Heritage Realty, mainly because Brinkli is the
father of his close friend Sally. Heritage is run by Big Al Fine
whose company is being investigated by the Feds because of its
alleged connection to organized crime. There are other murders of
individuals employed by Heritage Realty. At all the crime scenes
the murderer leaves clues which indicate that he is a psychopath.
After the second murder, Tony Ryan and Charlie are convinced that
they are dealing with a serial killer who enjoys killing and
torturing his victims. Tony Ryan uses Charlie Bloom’s expertise in
psychology in his investigations. After Charlie discovers a
nasty blackmail letter, he gets hot on the trail of the
killer whose trail leads Charlie and Tony to a mental hospital.
The novel takes us to Belmont Park in New York and into the
exciting world of horseracing to which the author has been
connected for forty years as a breeder and owner. This, along with
his experience as a teaching psychologist and therapist, have
provided A.D. Russo with the ability to give us some insight
into the world and mind of the horse trainer as well as the psyche
of a serial killer. As one of the characters in his novel stated
about the novel’s protagonist: He has been a conditioner of horses
and humans
