About the Book

This three part novel tells stories of Americans living in or visiting Mexico in the later  part of the Twentieth Century.  Many bought homes, leased long time or rented small apartments or one room on a weekly basis.  Some spoke Spanish and others got along with a few words and gestures.  The same as might happen any place, friendships developed and tragedies occurred.  Viewing from twenty five years in several Mexican cities, James Reay weaves three tales of intrigue involving murder and love,  such as a serious courtship with a strange ending.  A  night train ride through the mysterious Mexican landscape and murder of one American and how it turned out.  On the night train with an assortment of characters with serious consequences dealt to some and pleasant  endings for others.  Reay pictures Mexico quite different from what tourists report after their two week visit, giving it a flavor of the real Mexico, from a bull fight to a visit to an enchanting historic Mayan ruin.
