About the Author
Henry Franklin England was born April 3, 1970 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He lost his right leg to neurofibromatosis early in life and also suffered from several other illnesses. He spent many months at the Children’s Hospital in Richmond, Virginia when he was a young child. He quickly learned to overcome his handicaps and never let his handicaps get in his way to achieve his goals in life. There were many instances where he tricked people who were unaware that he had an artificial leg. A few of his Facebook friends made the following comments: Chris wrote: I remember when we were like ten years old and you pretended your leg got ripped off in my mag wheels of my bike. Christy wrote: I remember the day we first met while sitting on my swing. You stabbed your foot with a knife. I nearly had a heart attack. You were one of my first school chums and always made me laugh. Darrin wrote: Henry had one of the greatest smiles of anybody I have ever known, and he had a very keen sense of humor. Henry was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a 1990 Graduate of Western Branch High School in Chesapeake, Virginia. Henry was a quiet person. He never liked to have anyone's attention focused on him. He was humble and kind and had a knack about him that would make people laugh. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and many rock bands. He never knew a stranger. He always made new friends whenever he went to a NASCAR race or a concert. Henry was creative. In his teen years he discovered he had a knack for writing poetry. He spent many quiet hours writing poems and song lyrics. His poetry writing came to him naturally. He wrote about his own experiences and general observations of the world around him. He did not need fame or fortune or recognition to know that what he embarked upon was a good thing. Henry quietly died in his sleep on October 3, 2013. At the time of his passing he was a student at Darton College in Albany, GA studying Broadcast Journalism and had been invited to join Phi Theda Kappa, the national honor society for two year colleges.
