About the Book

Lollipop, a lovely white Japanese Spitz, came into our lives when our two sons were in their early teens. He became a member of our family, our furkid. He brought smiles and laughter to our lives every day, and was our good luck charm. He enriched our lives and also made us rich. From the day he entered our home, he was the center of attention. We brought him up the same way as we had brought up our two children, except that this time it was under their scrutiny. We soon realized that we had a brat on hand, but loved all his antics. All his actions looked funny, and we could only laugh at them. Such is the power of canine love. Often our neighbors, more so their children, suddenly became very friendly as soon as they saw him. When our sons moved out, he filled the gap in our lives. He was so close to us that sometimes we believed we could read his mind. His passing away created a void in our lives which will never be filled. “ A Star is Born “ is his story, partly in his own words.

About the Author

Rajeev Lal has written articles and short stories, and occasionally published some of these. Now 65, he has worked in the field of Information Systems & Services for over 40 years. He retired in 2012 from the position of CEO of a software services company. He lives in India, and worked there except for about five years in Kuwait. In the last decade of his work at Infotech Enterprises Ltd. (now CYIENT Ltd.), Hyderabad, India, he successfully helped large companies in US and Europe in leveraging the power of a global workforce in Information Services and Product Engineering. Benefits include faster time to market, business resilience - moving fixed cost to variable, better customer service, better product quality, reduced risk, higher contribution to business through more effective use of internal expertise, overall cost reduction etc. At Infotech Enterprises, he also led successful Quality Assurance systems certifications including SEI CMMi Level 5. In 2003 it was among the first ten companies in the world to achieve it. He was Chairman of Infotech’s Security Forum, and of its US subsidiary Infotech Enterprises America Inc. He was a Director on the Board of Infotech HAL Ltd., a joint venture of Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. and Infotech Enterprises Ltd., and its CEO. Rajeev Lal finds a place in ‘Marquis’ Who’s Who in the World - 1998’. Success story of manufacturing systems implementation led by him appeared in Dataquest (India) in 1993. He has been a member of American Management Association, Fellow of The Institution of Engineers (India), Senior Member of the Computer Society of India, Chairman of its Lucknow Chapter and Chairman, Publicity Committee, CSI 93 Convention, Mumbai, India. He has been a guest faculty at Administrative Training Academy, Nainital, Administrative Staff College of India, Hyderabad, Institute of Management Development, Lucknow, Institution on Engineers, Kuwait & U.P. State Chapters. He has presented papers in seminars conducted by International Federation for Information Processing, Computer Society of India, Confederation of Engineering Industries etc. and has contributed articles in computer magazines and newspapers. He is married, with two children and four grandchildren. He has travelled widely. He writes in an easygoing style, laced with humor and emotion at times. His narratives are based on events and situations that have occurred in his life. “A Star is Born“ is his first book.
