About the Author

Ruth Anderson Lawler was born and raised in New England, taught fourth grade in Pennsylvania, then migrated west, seeking wide open spaces. In Wyoming, she married Jim, a rancher, and they moved to Alaska where she also taught school. Their three children, the inspiration for this book, were born and raised in Alaska, which has been their permanent home.
