Thunder roared in the distance and an eerie light flashed across the evening sky. Alistair looked up.
Something is wrong.
It took a moment for Alistair spot it. The beast was huge, as tall as a ten-story building. The Gargon gave a great roar. It was black; blacker than anything Alistair had ever seen before and the creature seemed a warped version of its brothers and sisters the dragons. It was two-headed, its scales seemed like armored plating, its mouths were round in shape and it had multi-layered shark-like teeth.
Mounted upon its back was Donar, a Shadeen: A black wraith-like creature, once a magician like Alastair. Donar practiced the dark arts and overtime they corrupted him. Their power wore at him until he was, but a shadow of his former self, and enslaved to Anko his lord and master. Donar was one of seven such creatures known to exist.
Were there others? Have they come into this world as well? I must be careful.
Alistair needed to act quickly. He transformed back to his natural form of a man, he cursed and ran for the door of the house banged on the door and shouted, “Get out! Get out quickly. I have put you all in danger. Come quickly.”
Panic-stricken Jenna opened the door and rushed out, closely followed by Dot and Matt. Looking up in the sky, Dot let out a scream.
Alistair shouted, “My name is Alistair and I mean you no harm. Do you believe me?”
Too frightened to respond, they stood there dumbstruck.
Alistair continued, “If you wish to survive, you must listen and do as I say!”
Speechlessly, they nodded.
“Tego texi tectum maximus,” mumbled Alistair, with his arms stretching over Jenna, Dot and Matt. At once, a great, glowing shield immediately surrounded the three of them.
“Whatever happens, don't move and stay here,” ordered Alistair. He turned his attention to Donar. “Donar, you should not have come this far from your home. You do not belong in this world”.
Donar gave a sinister laugh. “I do not fear you, Alistair,” Donar sneered.
The two faced each other to do battle.
As Donar descended towards him, Alistair stood his ground and he raised his staff high and yelled, “Interficio!” The force of the spell hit the gargon's breastplate and it stumbled backward before it regained its bearing and it halted in mid-air. Donar clung to hang on.
Donar raised his staff and he responded with his own spell.
Alistair swerved and quickly raised a protective shield.
The battle raged onward. Alistair and Donar alternated between attacks; one upon the other, each opponent used all the force that he could muster to attack his opponent. Alistair staggered backward with each strike of magic.
All at once, Keric, Nivel and their men appeared from behind. Alistair began to despair. With the others involved, Alistair had no chance of winning this fight.
Moreover, to make things worse witnessed Jenna entering the battlefield. Panic overcame him.
What is she doing?
Jenna stood and watched from behind the protective shield, she knew that Alistair was faltering and that defeat was inevitable. She knew she had to do something. She realized that she could not stand by and do nothing, while Alistair battled to protect her and her family.
Then the strangest thing happened. As if by some bizarre flash of clarity, she suddenly and intuitively knew exactly what to do. It was as if somebody, or something, guiding her thoughts and her movements, Jenna stepped out from the protection of the shield. Calmly she walked towards the flying beast. She reached into her shirt and grasped the chain that hung around her neck she pulled it out and held it aloft she yelled, “STOP!”
