About the Book

A fairytale—or is it?—of a young girl living in the steppes of Mongolia who has a dream. A silver horse with lush mane, flowing white tail, and eyes gleaming red in the night rushes into her restless sleep, but most amazing of all, he has a long spiraled horn jutting from his forehead! His snorts as he runs through the darkness rouse her almost awake. She blinks, and haze mists her fluttering eyes, but the image of what wild, wonderful animal sits vivid and real in her mind. “He seems so real,” Temuge muttered. “I would love to see him again, to touch him but of course, it is only a dream.”

About the Author

Author was born in Comox, British Columbia, raised in Powell River, and now lives in Abbotsford. Anita has always written—beginning with children’s stories when she was a teenager, eventually hosting a personal column for a number of years with the Powell River News. In 2008, Anita was injured in a horrific traffic accident in the jungles of Belize; nearing the end of her almost two-year hospitalization, Anita picked up her pen once again. Long divorced with two children, she had remarried and traveled extensively through Mexico, USA, Japan, Malaysia, and Europe with a cherished month-plus on Crete, where she was able to indulge her lifelong passion in history. She was widowed shortly after then later traveled back to Italy and fulfilled a long-held desire to visit Egypt. A lover of piano and opera, Anita also enjoyed many years with her string bass in a school then community band. She has done many things, from being a grocery clerk to modeling to telecommunications representative, but writing remains a constant hobby. The author will sometimes use “big” words in the belief that children need to be exposed to a better usage of English. Although her stories are all about animals, Anita has owned only two cats in her life: Snowy and DC, both of whom died unnatural deaths. The love and empathy she felt for both pets color her writing today.
