About the Book

After dealing with his parents’ divorce and his family’s move, Sammy is also faced with the challenge of starting a brand-new school. Just as he feels like his life is never going to get better, he meets his new teacher and feels some hope. Her positive and encouraging attitude seem to rub off on Sammy and his classmates. Slowly, he begins to feel like part of a group again. Sammy also has a love and a passion for baseball. When his teacher, Ms. McDonald, realizes this, she encourages the class to start playing at recess. This support helps Sammy to realize his strengths. He gains a confidence that he never knew before and sees what is possible with friendship and kindness. Any obstacle in life can be overcome if you have love and support.
