About the Book
No other high school in the state of Utah has more elegance and beauty than that of Ogden High School. Lou Homer, Leslie’s daughter, stated, “The quality of the building will endure long after the cost is forgotten.” In addition, she also commented that the building has “caught the rhythm of the Rockies” with its art deco peaks rising into the sky.
About the Author
As a resident of Ogden, Utah, Brandon’s fascination and respect for Leslie S. Hodgson began as a young boy gazing at the magnificent art deco Ogden High School. Although Brandon always had a love of historic buildings, it was years later while working as a planner in Centerville, Utah, that he finally realized his real his passion. He took steps to become more educated, attending the University of Utah and receiving a master degree of science in architectural studies. He also volunteers as a board member for the Weber County Heritage Foundation. Brandon was invited to be a coauthor of “Centerville Utah, Our American Hometown,” a book for Centerville Utah’s centennial celebration. Through all these experiences, Brandon learned that preservation often starts with the individual and ends with a community.
