About the Book
A paintbrush in the hallway and the smell of fresh blank sheets of paper reassured a fourteen-year-old girl on her first day of middle school, the art school she decided to take a long journey to go to, a place far away from her safe haven of family and friends. Luming’s life was full of transitions like those, and it nurtured her sense of creativity. Her passion for writing and art, her love for poems, have led her to become who she is today. She enshrined her cherished dreams, whirlwind of fears, bliss of beauty, memory of first love, joys and pains of growing up in this poetry collection.
About the Author
Luming Yuan grew up loving literature. As a young child, she devoured fiction books and wrote dozens of stories in her head. Going into middle and high school, writing was the one thing that made her feel capable and confident, especially when she found nonfiction writing and journalism. While she was reporting for her school and a neighborhood community newspaper, her creative nature also led her to be deeply inspired by the flow of poetry. This book is her first official publication, at the age of seventeen, with poems carefully thought out since eighth grade. Throughout her years of growth from caterpillar to butterfly, she continued to build on her writing abilities and her love for it grew as well. Before going to college, Luming developed a talent appreciated by not just herself but by her family and friends. She currently lives in San Francisco, California, with her parents and younger sister.
