She stood up and walked over to the wall. Logan slid her hand over the bricks and found one to be oddly shaped, leaving one of the corners sticking out farther than the rest. She was focused on the brick’s sand papery feeling when she was startled by an unexpected voice. “Did you know that the Great Wall of China was made of 3,873,000,000 individual bricks?” a man asked. Logan gasped as she quickly turned to the corner chair. Sitting there with one leg crossed was a man reading a newspaper. He paused, slapped the paper closed and looked right up at Logan. “Imagine how big that must be.” The man nodded to the wall in front of him, “This one barely has a thousand; just envision how tiny you must look next to a wall that giant!” The man kept eye contact with Logan before continuing, “But let me tell you one thing,” he said pointing his finger at her, “no matter how much higher, longer, or stronger the Great Wall may be, this wall will always have more life.” The mystery man leaned back, “I’m Mr. Berry, and you are?”

About the Author
Lauren Arbogast was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She received her degree in English from Central Connecticut State University. Lauren has grown up working around children; she’s volunteered at Boys and Girls Clubs, coached basketball camps for all ages, and now works in early education. Lauren spent a year teaching Preschool where every day was filled with storytelling and creativity. After spending most of her days with bright smiles and silly imaginations, Lauren discovered her passion for writing children books. The Truth Behind Mr. Berry is her first published book.
