Butch is getting ready for the first day of school. He is scared about meeting his teacher and making new friends. He has butterflies in his stomach and he cannot fall asleep. What will Butch do to fall asleep? Will he make friends? Will the butterflies fly away?

About the Author

Terry Savoy Hadley has worked as a certified teacher for more than fifteen years. She has devoted her life to working with children of all ages. This story was inspired by her first pet dog named Butch, given to her as a gift from her grandmother Regina Jacobs when she was eight years old. The duo was inseparable until his death. She lives in Port Arthur, Texas, with her husband, Kerry Hadley, and they have four adult children—Christian, Farran, Parris, and Terry.
