About the Book

The Land Under: Seeing the Forest Through the Trees is a charming middle-grade adventure story about a boy’s journey to an underground kingdom of talking animals. Unhappy because of his parents’ financial difficulties, thirteen-year-old Frank finds himself summoned to the Land Under, a place that parallels our world but is only for animals. Fallen trees linked to forests aboveground are damming up the mighty waterfall, Naveah, which powers the rivers that keep the three kingdoms of the underground civilization separated. If Frank doesn’t find a way to unblock the waterfall, the northern forest kingdom will be overrun by savage animals from the jungle and safari kingdoms. It’s a race against time, the elements, and the balance of nature for an average boy with an extraordinary mission. Like a fairy tale in its intuitive simplicity, The Land Under grows before your eyes into a completely detailed world that feels so ordinary and real that it almost doesn’t seem to be fantasy.

About the Author

Frank Spadafora began his freelance fiction writing after sustaining a double fractured fema bone while working in his winery. While recovering from his accident, he put his vivid imagination to work conjuring up these characters who took up lives of their own that became his first novel known as The Land Under. From his early childhood Frank has always been fascinated by the wonders of nature. As a hunter and fisherman, he has spent many a day hiking through the forests on New England and Canada giving him firsthand experience with nature at its best. He now enjoys archery as a hobby. After achieving over three dozen national and international awards for his wines, Frank still continues his long life passion as a winemaker making wine, but only as a hobby now. He also cures his own meats such as prosciutto. He enjoys watching nature films and reading fantasy adventure stories. He is the father of four children and lives in Saugus, Massachusetts where he enjoys organic gardening and his lemon, olive and fig trees.
