Marie Wren came to California as a new bride in 1947, settled in Fillmore and has stayed there the rest of her life. She and her farmer husband, Gene Wren, were active in many community organizations while she worked as an insurance broker. After her retirement, she started writing her personal Indian Territory pioneer family story and then expanded into local Fillmore and California history. Marie also was as a charter docent at the Rancho Camulos Museum with stories about this early Mexican land grant, so her oral story telling and writing gave her a new interest. She felt history could be interesting to everyone if actual stories were included with the events. At age 91, Marie Wren is enjoying life and sharing her historical tales.
