About the Book

This book was born out of the popular sketch booking class taught by Lori Van Kirk Schue for the Smithsonian Associates Arts Program in Washington, DC. Capital Sketching helps you free your mind and creativity by taking in all a busy capital city has to offer and jotting it down in your visual journal. Much like a writing journal, a visual journal or sketchbook now becomes a personal record of your adventures, thoughts and experiences through illustrations. For the skilled or amateur, Lori has the perfect words and examples to ease the pressure and help you realize you really can do it.
