I remember that I have lots of skills that can help me calm down when I am having really big feelings. I can take a break and have some quiet time. Sometimes reading a book helps me feel better. Belly breathing also helps me calm down. It gives me a chance to catch my breath and think about what I need. I put my hands on my belly so I can feel it rise and fall. I pretend to hold a dandelion and I breathe in through my nose to smell it! Then I slowly breathe out through my mouth, blowing the dandelion seeds into the air! When I breathe in, I count to 4, very slowly! When I breathe out, I count to 6, very slowly! When I know what I need, or what is upsetting me, I can tell my teacher, my mom, or another adult who can help me solve my problem! Once we find a solution together, I am ready to get back to learning!

About the Book
