The call came, he knew it would! Katie asked that he bring Sadie back since her mother was now home from the hospital. Mr. McPherson was so sad. The next morning he put Sadie on her leash, and they walked to Brooklyn Street. When they arrived at the front walk, Sadie wagged her tail and barked. As Katie opened the door, Sadie darted to the couch where Ruth Wallace was sitting, and jumped up to place her front paws on Ruth's lap. They were both glad to see each other again. Mr. McPherson headed home with his head hanging so low he could only see the sidewalk in front of him.

About the Book
It’s a beautiful day on Brooklyn Street, and Mr. McPherson is out delivering the mail. He really enjoys his job and knows every family on the street, including their children and dogs. When Mr. McPherson walks up Ruth Wallace’s steps, he realizes something is wrong. Mrs. Wallace’s dog, Sadie, is barking much more than normal. He looks in and sees that Mrs. Wallace has fallen. While she goes to the hospital, someone must take care of Sadie, and Mr. McPherson agrees to look after her. He lives alone and has never had a dog before, but very soon the two of them get used to each other and form a small family. What will they do when it’s time to say goodbye and Sadie has to go back to Mrs. Wallace? In this children’s story, a mailman helps take care of a dog with a hurt owner and discovers that he needs the love of a dog in his life.
About the Author
Joyce Bunch retired in 2016 from teaching English in public schools and from selling and appraising real estate with her husband, David. After unexpectedly finding herself a widow, she began caring for her granddaughter Madisyn. At a friend’s suggestion, the two of them wrote a book together, starting a storytelling tradition that continues to this day. She currently lives in Huntington, WV.
