“The Journey of Master Chang” is a fantasy children’s book that tells of a journey before time of a painted land turtle nearing the end of his life. Master Chang shares philosophical wisdom using colorful, anthropomorphized animals such as beavers, an eagle and a serpent. He speaks of Honesty & Humility, Compassion & Patience, Courage & Discipline, Generosity & Responsibility, and Tolerance & Understanding with both poetry and narrative, through experiences with animals he encounters on his journey. It’s a beautifully illustrated story that will entertain and enlighten both children and adults.


About the Author

Roger Cockreham is a retired Source Inspector, having worked for 25 years in the defense industry. He was born in Muenster, Texas, in 1944, spent his childhood in Fort Worth, Texas, lived several years in Missouri and now resides Austin, Texas, with his wife, Suzanne. His son, Timothy, resides in Neosho, Missouri, and his daughter, Amy, in Cedar Park, Texas, with her husband Steven and son Liam. He was stepfather to Michelle in his first marriage and considers her boys, Christopher and Jacob, his grandchildren. Roger has published a novella, “Leaving for Detroit”, and written hundreds of poems, predominantly in Japanese styles, haiku, hokku and waka. Roger is currently struggling with a neurological condition that affects his balance and his speech but continues to write.
