About the Book

The Sounds of Orange depicts a teacher challenging a boy and a girl to think about whether or not the colour orange can make a sound. It was a no brainer. Orange makes no sound she thought. In a split second and much to her surprise she got more than she had bargained for. From out of a creative burst of energy, the two provided an amazing litany of examples. This story demonstrates some aspects as to how the colour orange can cause us to react in its presence. All illustrations playfully attempt to convince the reader that “Orange” can really make sounds. What the reader learns, however, is that where orange is we tend to react and emit numerous different sounds in its proximity. The Sounds of Orange engages our imaginations via the exciting pictures and through our ears and minds by sharing the story in memorable rhymes.
