F.Y.I. – For Your Imagination
Once upon a time, I started a LinkedIn weekly post, My Monday Morning Motivational Muse. According to Germany Kent, “Your Monday morning thoughts set the tone for your whole week. See yourself getting stronger and living a fulfilling, happier, and healthier life.” Therefore, I was intentional about energizing myself and others every Monday morning.
I am passionate about leadership and leadership development because I believe that effective leadership can easily address most of the world’s problems. Therefore, many of My Monday Morning Motivational Muse posts focused on leadership, engaging better with your team, improving your perspective, and nuggets for living and leading.
Pause and imagine, how lovely it would be to wake up on Monday morning, inspired, instructed, informed, etc. Your imagination is about to come to life! 😊
Over the years, I have learned from some of the industry’s best leaders on both successes and failures. One of the secret to consistent growth within any organization motivated leaders and employees. Ultimately, it is important to amplify and embrace individual motivations in order to maximize organizational output. Motivation is an incredibly powerful force in our lives and is part of our human nature and needs. We all need a spark to energize and get us moving toward the goal. I found my spark in My Monday Morning Motivational Muse and was happy to share it widely.
“If your actions create a legacy that inspires others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, then you are an excellent leader.” Dolly Parton
I like (and lean towards) “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader.” — John Quincy Adams.
The Motivated Leader
The quality and strength of leaders is the foundation of success for organisations. Strong leaders show genuine interest in their employees’ long-term development and inspire them to perform at their highest capacities. This is accomplished through adroitness and sensitivity in dealing with challenges, whether it is in the cultivation of a soft skill or an interpersonal issue.
One trait that virtually all effective leaders have in common is the ability to stay motivated. Motivation is a variety of self-management whereby we mobilize positive emotions to drive us toward our goals. Motivated leaders are driven to achieve beyond expectations – their own and everyone else’s. The key issues here are motivation and achievement. What better day of the week to harness such motivational power than Mondays? “Monday is for people with a mission,” says Cristina Imre.
Motivated leaders use positive reinforcement and collective brainstorming to reach business goals. Above all, motivated leaders remain humble, remembering that goals cannot be achieved without the team's hard work. Therefore, they have to motivate the team, allowing their own motivation to rub off on their team.
People feel energized in the presence of motivated leaders, wanting to listen to and learn from them. While motivated and motivational leaders may be highly skilled in their professions, their impact on others makes them uniquely effective.
Motivated Leaders Motivate Others
A motivated and motivational leader will inspire others with enthusiasm and energy. They make people feel valued by investing time and learning about their priorities, strengths, and needs. A motivated leader recognizes the value of hard work and encourages their employees' potential through meaningful challenges and goals.
As a leader, your ability to remain motivated and motivate people, particularly on a Monday morning, can improve their perspectives and help spur them to reach their weekly goals. Many motivated leaders inspire others by leading by example, encouraging and praising them for persevering through challenges, creating loyalty to the team or organization, and striving to produce their best work.
I like this quote by Dr Lance H.K. Secretan, a British-Canadian author of business books, best known for his work in leadership theory and how to inspire teams.
“Leadership is not so much about technique and methods as it is about opening the heart. Leadership is about inspiration — of oneself and others. Great leadership is about human experiences, not processes. Leadership is not a formula or a program, it is a human activity that comes from the heart and considers the hearts of others. It is an attitude, not a routine.” Lance Secretan.
Monday is an important day for leaders because how you spend your Monday can often tell you what kind of week you are likely to have. My Monday Morning Motivational Muse posts are a great week starter. For the first 52 weeks, they have not been arranged chronologically. They are organized into five chapters based on the topic. Here is the outline of the five chapters:
1. F.Y.I – For Your Inspiration (unique angles to issues that will help improve your perspective)
2. F.Y.I – For Your Instruction (general guidance for intentional action and implementation required to enhance your leadership journey)
3. F.Y.I – For Your Information (intriguing facts provided or learned about something you should be interested in as a leader)
4. F.Y.I – For Your Insight (insightful nuggets of deeper understanding on various subjects)
5. F.Y.I – For Year-end Introspection (reflections surrounding the year-end and the emergence of a new year)
This introduction is F.Y.I. - For Your Imagination. Providing a few perspectives to pique (excite or arouse) your imagination. PLEASE READ ON!
