The rest of the summer was filled with Sandy's escapades and total defiance of Mama Fannie. She continued to pull down our sheets and pillowcases getting into trouble week after week if Mama Fannie didn't keep a constant vigil. Finally, one wash day, Grandmother took a different approach and decided to tie Sandy up to a tree by attaching a rope to her homemade dog collar. Confident that Sandy couldn't get to her freshly washed sparking clean clothes, Mama Fannie relaxed thinking she didn't have to worry and watch Sandy. When Granny finished washing, she went inside the house, so relieved and relaxed, she never looked outside until right before it was time to take the clothes off the line. Big MISTAKE! When she did go outside to retrieve her hard-earned white sheets, she was stunned and amazed. She was screaming my name," Deana, Deana" come help me! " Come see what YOUR dog has done!"
