The Tree Stump is a biography of the first Ophthalmologist of Kitgum district who rises from the family of a peasant and porter to find financial liberation in educating his children. This is a story of grit, tenacity and resilience of a man facing generational abject poverty and unwavering resolve to break ranks with his past and secure a date with prosperity in his future.

About the Author

Aliker p’Ocitti is a Ugandan Published Poet, Author of a Memoir (My Mayor.The Political Campaign Story of a Poor Elite and Rich Illiterate); Hidden Scars, a poetic compilation and also Co-Authored, Unsaid Words.

His poems have appeared in African Global Networks (AGN), Musings During a Time of Pandemic: A World Anthology of Poems on COVID-19, I Can’t Breathe: A Poetic Anthology of Fresh Air and the Best “New” African Poets 2020.

Aliker was a TalkShow Host at Wan Luo T.V (Wangoo Pa Kaka Program). He has also been a regular contributor of opinion articles on The Daily Monitor, The New Vision, The Weekly Observer and Chimpreports (Online) and Nile Post (Online) in Uganda.

He is a regular on numerous T.V appearances in Uganda for analytical perspectives. Aliker holds a B.A Education degree and Masters in Peace and Justice Studies from Makerere University and University of San Diego respectively.

He has also had national and international speaking engagements in 13 States in United States of America (USA) and Canada.
