About the Author

Nilda Rivera Matías was born in Aguada, Puerto Rico. She completed her first years of study in Pedagogy at Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico, and then continued her studies in New York, concentrating on Sociology and Social Work. She Worked as a Bilingual teacher and Social Services Coordinator. She is the author of the poetry book Vida Empoderada. Nilda is known for empowering and assisting others in times of challenges in life and promoting family values to ensure better coexistence.
