About the Book

I Don’t Think I Signed Up for This is a true story of a girl from Chicago who married a boy from Florida. After fourteen years of marriage, her husband Bill sees an advertisement, ‘Come to Australia, Land is cheap and cattle are free.’ They pack up four children, leave all their relatives and head to the isolated life of the Northern Territory, Australia. Buy an undeveloped block of land: no home, no electricity, and little money. The one thing they had was dreams. Bill wanted to build a cattle property that would support them. Eileen wondered if she could be the wife Bill needed. She had no idea what was ahead. Fires, floods, and accidents were a part of life, so they had to learn new skills to survive, such as driving bulldozers and catching wild buffalo. Join them as they learn to work together, under challenging circumstances, without packing up and going back to America. I may not have signed up for this life, but I thank God daily for this story to tell.
