True Love Does Not Grow in Ideal Conditions presents original drawings and thoughts that explore loving and living. “This book is about appreciating love in all of its diversity—even if we cannot understand it,” Marian said. “True Love is for everyone—especially those who wish to mine meaning from mountains of struggle. This book (based on my earlier book titled Divine Design) was composed while I accompanied my mother through her final days. Sometimes sadness can reveal the greatest truths. Each day is possibly ‘a final day’ for any living creature—therefore, life is precious. Life is amplified through love. Love can appear in our lives like an angel—seemingly absurd, inconvenient, unconventional, and strange—yet real. Reality can seem ‘unacceptable’ at first. True Love is an adventure into acceptance of reality, following the ancient idea that all of creation has been divinely inspired and blessed with love—as described in Psalm 139 of the Holy Bible. Every situation can be valuable—including situations that are overwhelming and beyond comprehension. Curveballs, misfortunes, losses, accidents, depressions—all these are facets of the gift of life. I offer this book with the hope that it may help others.”
