About the Book

In this descriptive categorical reflection of a family’s legacy of heart disease associated with Iodine Deficiency Disorders, the author’s lived experience and the death of her maternal grandmother at an early age ignited passion and determination which underscored the driving force to become a Registered Professional Nurse. Her intention was to provide education, awareness and integrate evidence-based practice into clinical practice to realize and implement an intervention that would eradicate potential suffering and death of family members and vulnerable populations from IDD. How the detection of a breast lump and an automobile injury resulted in three brain surgeries interrupted and transformed her career progression.
