This book is really two books in one. It begins as a grandmother’s book to honor a woman who is awaiting the arrival of her first grandchild or one who already has a few of them. It would be a perfect gift for such a woman and an unusual one. At a shower, for example, all the presents are for the baby or the mother. This one honors the person without whom there would be no baby or mother. Then it becomes a children’s book, which could be read to a grandchild or to have a grandchild read unassisted. The joyful part is that as the grandmother reads it, she can talk about all the experiences described in the book and how much she enjoys doing them and why. A children’s book should always be one that leads to a discussion with a child. Their opinions are so refreshing and honest. How wonderful—two books in one!
