About the Book

The birth of India and Pakistan was the death of the British Raj and the start of many traumatic journeys as the European was forced to make major decision that would impact on their future.

This is one such journey as it follows New Zealand author Alan M Brooker through 60 years of change and challenge.  We follow his family as they leave India and traveled to New Zealand to take up a new lifestyle - without relatives, friends, or the many servants who had made European life in India an enjoyable experience.

Leaving school to become a reporter, Brooker then joins the New Zealand air force and travels extensively around his new country as well as the South Pacific.

His mind is not prepared to accept the restraints of Earth and soon takes wing into the realms of science fiction, fantasy, the occult and horror as it creates new worlds and he starts to write.  At the same time he is facing the pressures of his new task as a health manager who has to destroy in twelve months what he spent eleven years building up.

Life is full of challenges, and this journey is not without an insight into some of these as they force decisions that impact far beyond the person having to make them.

About the Author

Welcome to Brooker's World, where the reality of life takes on a journey that matches some aspects of Northland author Alan Brooker's tales of science fiction, fantasy, the occult and adventure. A reporter for the Otago Daily Times in Dunedin when he left school, he eventually joined the Royal New Zealand Air Force, where he spent twenty years, but he never stopped writing - for magazines and newspapers commercially while still pursuing his other loves of sports and photography. He is a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography, and a life member of the Wellington Badminton Association. His secret worlds of fantasy and adventure were put into words, to become his novels of the past, present and future. He writes from his base in northern New Zealand, sometimes distracted by vistas of forest and sea, but always planning his next project. In his spare time, he sleeps.
