About the Book

A manned space flight to Venus strikes problems when a crewmember is effected by a malfunction in the hibernation serum.  The serum is manufactured from bear's blood - it turns a crewmember into a vicious monster with a taste for human flesh.

The female crewmembers manage to overpower it and struggle back to earth.  The flight's doctor joins forces with a private detective to track down those responsible, when it is discovered that the serum was deliberately tampered with by one of the scientists.  There is an unsuspected complication - the navigator is pregnant to the monster.

The search is hampered by conflicting evidence - and a second searcher with an agenda of her own, which is based on financial considerations and not justice.

About the Author

Welcome to Brooker's World, where the reality of life takes on a journey that matches some aspects of Northland author Alan Brooker's tales of science fiction, fantasy, the occult and adventure. A reporter for the Otago Daily Times in Dunedin when he left school, he eventually joined the Royal New Zealand Air Force, where he spent twenty years, but he never stopped writing - for magazines and newspapers commercially while still pursuing his other loves of sports and photography. He is a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography, and a life member of the Wellington Badminton Association. His secret worlds of fantasy and adventure were put into words, to become his novels of the past, present and future. He writes from his base in northern New Zealand, sometimes distracted by vistas of forest and sea, but always planning his next project. In his spare time, he sleeps.
