About the Book

Rick Lifer, a twenty-four year old guitarist with a violent past that stemmed from his involvement in a gang during his early teen years in New Orleans, after a six-year attempt to become a professional musician in Los Angeles, returns to his home in Mississippi and enrolls in college for the first time. He feels extremely out of place at Mississippi Coast University, but feels it is the perfect place to leave his violent past behind. He meets Karla Sanders just as the school year begins and she soon recruits him to assist the student government for the year. As he tries to establish a new life as a college student, he begins the formation of a band he hopes will take his music to a new level. After a few mistakes in communication, Rick and Karla begin dating. It isn’t long until the first of a series of murders takes place on the campus. That first victim, and the several subsequent ones, have strong connections to Karla and it begins to destroy her will to continue with each successive one. Rick finally embraces the violence of his past and puts forth his best effort to find the perpetrators and ease Karla’s mind while exorcising some of the demons of his past.

About the Author

Jeff Brown is currently the Technical Director at Southwest Mississippi Community College in Summit, MS. He has been a musician most of his life and has pursued several employment opportunities in that field and has spent a great deal of time cultivating his skill as a writer. This is his first published work of fiction.
